Charity begins at home.

This has been clearly manifested in the first few months of Gov. Damian Mercado’s leadership in the Provincial Government.  The first noticeable change that Gov. Mian did was the repair and improvement of the Capitol Building which included:

o    the flooring of the building
o    repainting
o    installation of aluminium cladding & reflected sliding glass window
o    Installation of brass nosing
o    Installation of So. Leyte Prov’l. Capitol Stainless Lettering
o    Construction of Covered Walk
o    Improvement of Rotonda & Main Stairs
o    Renovation of offices (PGO, PAdmin, PPDO, PLO, PACCO, PTO, PGSO-obligated, OPAg)

Shortly after that, the government employees, regardless of rank and status, received their first time ever Christmas (2007) cash gift of twenty thousand pesos (P20,000.00) each, then last year, P23,000.00.  The casual employees also enjoyed equal treatment in the granting of uniform allowance (P4,000.00 each).
